Remember The Imperfectionists? This book is like that but one-thousand times more amazing. Impossible, I know.
& Sons by David Gilbert is the one book you must read, if you read a book in 2013.
Set in contemporary NYC, starting at a funeral, with a Salinger-esque novelist speaking on behalf of the deceased. We meet the son’s who’ve been fathered by this literary icon and the larger than life man in the pine box. Just 71 pages in, and I’m rabid for this story, I can’t think of anything else, it’s like falling in love, for the first time. I just got through the son in Los Angeles, trying to sell a screenplay to people who really want to buy his famous father.
Oh My Fuck!!!
